Winter Time Hibernating

We at Opera House Press are spending a relaxing winter resting. We are planning to come out with some new designs this spring. The shop is a bit frigid and awaits our return once the weather warms. We are planning on doing a lot of craft shows this upcoming season. Look for future posts to see where we are heading!

We are excited about the upcoming Bloomington Handmade Market!

"The Bloomington Handmade Market is a contemporary art and craft fair that showcases modern handmade goods from 40 local and regional artists. The event will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 10am-4pm at the John Waldron Arts Center, located at 4th and College in downtown Bloomington, IN."

Renegade Craft Fair was great. Big thanks to Luke Yanz for putting me and Becky up. I will have an article/review of the fair and some of the fantastic artists that had booths there sometime soon hopefully.

The floor is finally done and the light box is underway. We are already getting requests for jobs which is GREAT! Keep it coming! We hope to stick to our dead line and be up and going by mid May!

Slow Start

Luke and I have been busy remodeling our apartment and have not yet had the time to work on the screen printing shop. We did, however, buy some nice dark blue floor paint that will complement the bright orange color of the walls. It reminds me of Syracuse! We have a lot of work ahead of us but hope to have a presentable set up by May 8th when Gosport will have it's town wide yard sale. Before then we are also planning on attending the Downtown Business Associations meeting with RATIO to discuss town improvements on April 23. A lot going on but we are still excited!

Screen printing shop starting up

Luke and I are excited about our purchase of an Atlas 4 color 4 station press. We will be picking it up by tomorrow. It's a modest machine but will be a good fit since we are just starting out in this endeavour.

A conveyor dryer and a hat press were thrown in to sweeten the deal along with various inks and a few extra screens. We are even getting his supplier lists for free.

We have bought all the supplies we need to build an exposure table. We lucked out and found an old shower door at the Habitat Restore for $5. The thick glass will be great for exposing our screens. All in all I think the light box will cost about $100 but we will be able to burn two screens at a time. We also bought an old 2 foot square ceiling light that will work for burning smaller screens. That will cost about $45 when all is said and done.

The space in the Opera House will be more than enough for all that our imagination can create! Opera House Press is the screen printing shop which will be home to Wojo Studio. We are excited to get the press hinges churning with the upcoming deadlines for the craft fair circuit fast approaching.
